THE STORY
Being a mother of three young boys, the majority of my time was occupied at home. My world was my home and my people were my boys. It was (and is) very rewarding, but also extremely isolating. I yearned to express myself and to find balance in this current chapter of my life. In the chaotic midst of creating a family and caring for those little ones around me, how do I cultivate self-care in my daily routine? Over the years, my confidence in myself and how I fit in the world outside of my home deteriorated. There were moments when I was truly terrified of life outside of my little family bubble. To help rebuild my confidence and deepen my self-awareness, I needed moments where I could express my personality and creativity. And these moments were through what I brought into my home. And the moments where I found I was being mindful and even in a state of peace and acceptance, were while I was washing the dishes. It's funny, how being mindful and present while doing the dishes, can really be an act of self-care and a force of good. I connected to my mind, my soul, and my body. I felt a sense of achievement and pride, even for a brief moment, the present moment was perfect. One summer's day, while most of us all around the world were still in the pandemic lockdown, I placed my hand-washed pan down on top of my Christmas microfibre dish mat. It was a tad too small and the microfibre had completely worn down after one too many washes. Not only that, it was summer and the design was definitely out of season. Then it occurred to me - we've neglected the humble dish mat and neglected the powerful practice of mindfulness. After many nights of pondering, dreaming, and dishwashing, an idea popped up. The act of mindful dishwashing is an act of self-care. Now, let's create fun and changeable dish-drying mats that will remind us of this truth! Selecting materials that are natural, and long-lasting and have them available in an ever-evolving selection of Scandi Granny designs to express our many styles and personalities. All to remind us that the opportunity to practice mindfulness is available to us every time we do the dishes. Connect, Create & Celebrate - one moment at a time.

Sakred Haus is a journey that started more than 10 years ago. It's an idea that's been brewing inside, but without a name, just a quiet whisper that made me feel there is more meaning to this thing called life. I realised I have the power to consciously participate in life, and that's how Sakred Haus was born. This is my way of sharing with the world my creative side - in a space, I love and cherish the most - my home. I hope you'll join me on my journey, and that Sakred Haus empowers and inspires us to Connect, Create & Celebrate our life, one moment at a time. This may seem extremely optimistic, but I truly believe, as we each create our own sakred connection to life - we will create a world filled with love and wholeness.
